Recommended Tips to get ready to apply for ANA funding
Post Award Manual

Tip #1 Sam.gov registration
Sam.gov registration can take several weeks. System for Award Management (Sam.gov) registration is a mandatory first step for any organization looking to access a wide range of government resources and funding opportunities. It is required to apply for any federal funding opportunities, including the Administration for Native Americans.
Tip #2 Create a Grants.gov account
An active and current Grants.gov account is needed to submit your federal funding application. To set up a Grants.gov account, your AOR needs an email address, phone number, and your organization’s name.
Tip #3 Suitable for an ANA project?
You can get a brief idea of the funding opportunities ANA offers on the ANA Programs & Funding tab on our website. Reach out to the AK Region (TTA) Center through our Ask a Question link with questions you have about determining if your project is fundable by ANA, or how to start working on your project with ANA funding in mind.
Tip #4 Engage with Your Community
You will need documented engagement with your community in which they will help identify the need for the project and provide input into the design of the project. You can also collect information regarding the challenge in the community that this project will address.
Tip #5 Review Previous ANA Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)
We highly recommend reviewing the 2025 NOFOs which will help you under stand the application expectations and start preparing your materials early. Please note that changes are expected in the 2026 NOFOs, always thoroughly respond to the current published NOFO before submitting your application.
